00:00:00,001 --> 00:00:07,000Hello everyone and welcome to the Adobe Illustrator CS3 QuickStart!. This is Dwayne Ferguson and what we're going to do here is spend some time getting you guys up and going when you install your Adobe Illustrator application and we're going to talk about the interface and some of the tools. We're also going to do some quick projects to get you going, get your feet wet, and get you really entrenched in what Adobe Illustrator can do. Here's an illustration that I created for Mac Design magazine. This is Ray Charles and it was created in Adobe Illustrator. It's a great application. You can do all kinds of cool stuff with it. Some of the projects we're going to do to get you going is we're going to create a logo. This is the Titanic logo we're going to do. As you see, we have a gradient fill. We have all these little rivets and that kind of thing. We're also going to do a quick gradient experiment with a bowling ball and we're going to make a retro TV based on an actual sketch that we're going to bring in. I'm going to go ahead and expand the layers and show you the sketch that we're going to use here. I'm going to go ahead and hide all of these layers. This is the artwork that we're going to use as our basis to slowly but surely built this TV. Now, of course, you have to start slow before you can actually, you know, get to know how to master the application. Speaking of mastery, we're going to talk a little bit about the pen tool, which is pretty much the bread and butter of Illustrator. This is something that I recommend you practice with a lot because this is really going to make or break your experience with the application, although you can create great artwork using all the other drawing tools, but the pencil is your best friend. So once again, sit back and get a nice hot beverage or a cool beverage, based on where you live, and get ready to learn how to use this amazing application so that you can create some cool artwork.
